The fact that children are affected by their surroundings and experiences is proven by decades of scientific research. According to Urban Child Institute, genes provide a blueprint for the brain, but a child’s environment and experiences carry out the construction.
The environment of a child’s earliest years can have effects that last a lifetime.
The key message from it is that although we don’t choose genes, we can and should foster a positive environment and early development activities for the best future of our children.
